Tis
the Season!
It’s a little
hard to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s December 6 and nary a snowflake
rests upon the ground of our mountaintop town, but if the calendar says it’s
the end of 2012, it must be right!
We welcomed Max
into our family July 15 – the poor little boy will either be the best husband
ever or completely terrified of women after growing up with his three older
sisters! His birth was a wonderful reminder of how blessed we are as family
members and new friends surrounded us.
Mia got her ears
pierced, a life goal!, and also went to horse camp this summer, which has
inspired her to change her life ambition from doctor or cheerleader to “being a
cowgirl.” We take this with a grain of salt (along with her repeated requests
to house a horse here at the mini storage) as we encourage her to follow her dreams.
Maggie has a
song in her five-year-old heart and a big smile on her face! We’ve discovered
she listens and retains everything set to music, so it’s not uncommon to have
complete conversations with her via song! She wants to be a rabbit trainer when
she grows up, a side effect of our newest family adventure of raising rabbits.
I’m not sure what she wants them to do, but I imagine she has a promising future
career as a sing rabbit hypnotist if that’s what she sets her mind to do.
Mikayla, well,
there’s no other way to put it except she’s a stinker. That child has embraced
being two-years-old with everything in her soul! Maybe it’s because she’s the
youngest, maybe it’s because she’s got a wee bit of the devil in her, we don’t
know, but she’s as headstrong as they come yet blessed with a great sense of
humor. We tell jokes before bed each night and she says gems like: “Knock,
knock.” “Who’s there?” “Coyote.” “Coyote, who?” “Coyote… at the table.” She laughs hilariously and we can’t help but join
in! She told me when she grows up she wants to be BIG! Since she’s in the 90%
of height for her age group, she’s got a good start.
We continue in
the jobs we reported from last year (mini storage, gun shop, homeschooling,
writing, building projects, church, etc.), our same house, our same cars, same
families, and stay occupied wrangling children and animals. (This fall we
stepped into the world of rabbit husbandry and now have a herd of rabbits along
with the poodles and Great Dane!) It’s a good life, simple, yet fulfilling.
I guess it’s
true that time flies as you get older, and the increasing presence of gray hair
tell us we’re getting older! Wishing you the merriest of seasons and the
courage in 2013 to make your world a better place…
